Aiguille du Dru constitutes of two summit; the Grand Dru and the Petite Dru (its west face most visible in this drawing). The west face of the Petite Dru was often seen to be even harder than the north, and anyone who's seen the face in person knows how big and "featureless" it seems. It wasn't until 1952 that the face was first climbed, and three years later the renowned Walter Bonatti solo climbed the south-west pillar.
